Two wins from two games for RoadiesHuon Channel Cricket Association Round 7 matches resulted in wins to Slab Road’s B and C Grade teams. Slab Road’s A Grade side had the bye on Saturday. B Grade lined up with a very strong side on Saturday when they took on the visiting Kettering (The Crickets). The visitors won the toss and elected to bat and bat they did, accumulating 46.4 overs for a total of 91 runs. Darris Fahey, Adam Coad, Julian Coad and wicket keeper come medium pacer Paul Cowen all snared two wickets each. In reply, the Roadies’ batsmen wasted no time in reaching the required target, scoring the winning runs in the thirteenth over for the loss of one wicket. Justin Jarrett 49 not out and Bradley Clark 34 both hit the ball sweetly. C Grade continued on its consistent season when they recorded a comfortable victory over the Longley Bunyips. Batting first, the Roadies’ opening batsman Peter Ross (85) laid the foundations for the Roadies’ total of 9/207. Daniel Webster 28, Geoff Roberts 24, Captain Jeremy Cracknell 18 and Mitch Direen 17 all made valuable contributions to the total. In reply, the Roadies’ bowlers restricted Longley to 155 all out. Rhys Synnott claimed the bowling figures with 3/10 whilst Cameron Wilcox and Rhys Jennings took two wickets each. Wonder who is leading the “Quackers Club” he might have played in this game! -- “Roadies” |
