Round 5 of the Huon Channel Cricket Association’s 2008-9 season roster last weekend saw Slab Road Cricket Club’s C Grade team record a tight win over top of the ladder side Blackmans Bay at home.
A and B Grades both had the weekend off on account of the Huon Show.
Blackmans Bay won the toss and elected to bat on a wet and very slow outfield.
Opening bowlers Neilson and Cherry got the Roadies off to a good start, having the visitors 4/14 off 10 overs.
Daniel Wilcox continued the good work and the visitors were wobbling at 7/108.
A solid innings, however, by Adam Clydesdale got Blackmans Bay to 9.134 off their 50 overs.
Neilson, Cherry and Wilcox all claimed two wickets each.
Apart from Harley (25) and Cherry (23), we continued to lose wickets and were looking down and out at 8/99.
However, Daniel Wilcox 34 not out, in completing a fine match, and good support from Rhys Synnott 9 and Nick Duggan 8 not out, saw the Roadies get home
at 9/140.
With some players returning to the Club, there is starting to be a little bit of pressure being applied for team positions.
Get to training or get some runs, wickets, catches, whatever, to hold your game.
