Huon Channel Cricket Association roster games for Round 12 last weekend saw many highlights for the Slab Road Cricket Club known as “The Roadies”. In A Grade, centuries were scored by Stuart Clark and Brad Thomas. In B Grade, half centuries were scored by Jordan Jarrett and Rodney Dance, while “Skipper” Daniel Walter took a five-wicket haul. In C1, Peter Ross scored a half-century while youngster Gerard Warren scored five wickets. In C2, Nick Duggan returned the sensational figures of 7-9. Round 12 in A Grade saw the Roadies take on Longley at home. Batting first, the Roadies notched up the huge total of 4-322 in ideal conditions. Stuart Clark continued his magnificent season, notching his third consecutive century (122) for the roster. Brad Thomas, playing his first game this season, also notched up a classy century (102 not out) while Damien Coad scored 27. In reply Longley looked like being happy not to be bowled out, falling a long way short of the total at 8-172 off their 50 overs. Jason Clark 2-28 and Gorden Kerr 2-31 were our leading wicket takers. Maybe the Longley Bunyips are a better team in wet conditions. Round 12 in B Grade saw the Roadies travel to Margate where they scored a convincing victory in a good team performance. Batting first, the Roadies amassed the big total of 300. Justin Jarrett top scored with 65, Rodney Dance made 57, David Bone 43, Steve Direen 42, Justin Direen 30 and Ian Coulson 20, all contributing to the big total. In reply, Margate was bundled out for 168. Captain Daniel Walter claimed the bowling honours with a five-wicket haul (5-51). Julian Direen also chimed in with 2-21 in a good team effort. Round 12 on Sunday saw our C1 side score a comfortable win over Woodbridge at home. Batting first, the visitors could only manage 113 off 33 overs. Youngster Gerard Warren was the destroyer, claiming 5-41 off 9.3 overs. Tyler Cowen (two wickets), Jordan Ross and Kane Nelson (one wicket) also bowled well. A solid half-century (61 not out) by opening batsman Peter Ross ensured a good win for the team, passing the required runs with three wickets down. Will Ford 16 and Gerard Warren 10 not out also batted well. Round 12 saw our C2 team get defeated by Woodbridge 2 on Sunday at Woodbridge in a low scoring affair. Batting first, Woodbridge could only manage 96 all out. The destroyer with sensational bowling figures of 7-9 off 84 overs was Nick Duggan, who has had a fine season when thrown the ball. However, in reply, the Roadies, after looking comfortable at 2-42, collapsed in a big heap, losing 8-19 to be bundled out for 61. Ben Smith 20 and Aaron Dance 12 were our only batsmen to make double figures. Duck Club Sloppy (G), Shakey, Waltz, Damo, Corey. Matty, Bona and Bob. Dolly Club Chicko, Gordy, Tommy, Lowy, Matty and Wally. “Bedi” |
