Brilliant century to Clark

Slab Road Cricket Club’s A Grade Captain, Stuart Clark, continued his outstanding 2009-10 season with the bat with a brilliant innings of 108 not out against the Kingston Crows on Saturday.

This follows his 103 not out against Huonville the previous week and a century in the first game of the roster.

A Grade was the only side to compete for Slab Road over the weekend with byes to B Grade and both C Grade teams.

Round 11 saw the Roadies travel away to Kingston to take on the Kingston Crows.

The home side elected to bat in hot and windy conditions.

This, combined with a lightning outfield, were always going to be a tough test for the Roadies’ bowlers.

That proved to be the case with Kingston amassing 6/256 off their 50 overs.

Tom Nichols was the leading wicket taker, claiming 3/60 off his 10 overs.

In reply, the run chase got off to a poor start with Slab losing opener Daniel Watson with the score on 13.

Damien Coad then joined Clark and the pair posted a fine 111 run partnership before Coad was dismissed for a fine knock of 53, which included ten 4s.

Ken went cheaply for 9 to leave the side 3/170 off 32 overs.

Bradley Watson, with a quick-fire 50, which included six 4s and three 6s, and Clark (bringing up his brilliant century with thirteen 4s) claimed victory in the 43rd over for an excellent win.

Slab Road Cricket Club’s teams will all be playing this coming weekend.
