Round 3 of the Huon Channel Cricket Association's roster games saw the Slab Road Cricket Club remain undefeated in A Grade after scoring an emphatic victory over visiting team, the Ranelagh-Grove Rams. Batting first, the Roadies got off to a good start before losing their first wicket, that of Dan Watson, at 38. Jarrett went with score on 74 for a breezy 49. When Captain Stu Clark, Coad & Cane all went in quick succession, the Roadies were suddenly 5/95. Bradley Watson and Jason Clark, with a little help from the visitors' fielders, took the score to 152 before Watson was dismissed for 34. Damien Clark departed for 10. When David Griffiths strode to the wicket, along with Clark, they blasted a quick 52 run partnership, before Clark nicked one behind and departed for 62. Griffiths continued to strike the ball well and remained not out 51 at the close of the innings, which was 9/268. The Roadies wend into the field full of confidence and when opening bowlers Damien and Nathan Clark grabbed wickets in their first overs, it immediately had the Rams on the back foot. Nathan took wickets in his third and fifth overs, along with a brilliant run out by Stu Clark, had the visitors on the ropes at 5/27, from which they never recovered and were bundled out for 82. Nathan Clark claimed the bowling honours. Damien Clark gave splendid support with a fiery spell of bowling claiming 2/42 and Dave Bone chipped in with 2/17. Highlights on the day included a fine spell of opening bowling by Nathan Clark, who returned the impressive figures of 5/23 off 10 overs. In the batting, veteran Jason Clark top scored with a hard hit 62 runs, while David Griffiths 51 not out, Justin Jarrett 49 and Bradley Watson all made quick fire contributions. Congratulations must also go to 12 year old Corey Polley who was 12th man for the A Grade team. Corey fielded all the Ranelagh innings, though be it only 25 overs, and did a splendid job. Well done, Corey. B Grade let a golden opportunity slip for their first win of the season when beaten by home side Longley. Batting first, the Roadies got a good start from openers Peter Ross 38 and the consistent Will Ford 29 before stumbling to 5/102. Acting Skipper, Julian Direen and Kade Ebdon 29 steadied the innings to see the Roadies through to 8/179 off their allotted overs. Kane Neilson Duggan got the Roadies off to a flyer grabbing 3/5 in his first two overs to have the Bunyips reeling at 3/11. Young Joe Hindle was brought into the attack as wickets continued to tumble, with the home side stumbling to 9/111. However, the Bunyips' No. 10 and No. 11 batsmen put a magnificent performance to see the home side victory at 9/180. Highlights were acting Captain, Julian Direen making 40 not out with the bat, and Kane Neilson Duggan 4/44, Joe Hindle 3/37 with the ball. C Grade won their second game for the season with an emphatic win over a young Snug line up. Batting first, the Roadies amassed 239. Paul Cowen top scored with 90 runs, Mitchell Direen 33 and Cameron Wilcox 22 not out were also amongst the runs. In reply, Snug were bundled out for a meagre 54 runs. Highlights for the match were Paul Cowen with 90 runs, Mitchell Direen 33 and Cameron Wilson 22 not out. Cameron Wilcox starred with the ball, completing a fine double claiming 5/26 off 10 overs.
